The Christian Walk Exemplified

In Col. 4:7-18, we see an unusually long greeting from Apostle Paul. These closing greetings are often overlooked as mere “sign-offs.” The question to ask is why an exhaustive greeting and a list of names at the end of a small letter? Paul often transforms the conventional greetings found at the beginning and end of his epistles, making them theologically and pastorally rich. Paul's emphasis in the book of Colossians was the Lordship of Christ over everything and our walk under his Lordship in all areas of life. In the previous sections Paul 'explained' the nature of this Christians walk and in this closing section Paul 'exemplifies'/ 'models' the Christian walk for believers in and through the lives of his fellow-workers
